Bruno Muller Elected as
Chairman of Canadian Trucking Alliance
Dynamic, progressive leader takes
helm
(Scottsdale, AZ, April 7, 2008) – Bruno Muller,
CEO of Caron Transportation Systems of Sherwood Park, AB, was named chairman of
the board of directors of the Canadian Trucking Alliance for the 2008-10 term at
the CTA annual spring meeting today in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Muller is a visionary leader who built the Sherwood
Park, Alberta-based Caron Transportation Systems, a specialty hauler of bulk
commodities, into one of the most successful carriers in Western Canada. Caron
services western, central and northern Canada as well as the northwestern United
States.
Muller started his career in the trucking industry in
1978 when he began working in the small courier sector as a driver, dispatcher,
and later supervisor. His career as a fleet owner was launched in 1991 when he
and a partner bought the company. In the years that followed, he made numerous
strategic acquisitions of bulk, aggregate and warehousing operations, which led
to becoming one of Western Canada’s foremost carriers.
A fixture on the CTA board of directors since its
inception ten years ago and a member of its executive committee for the past six
years, Muller’s chairmanship comes at a pivotal point for the Alliance as
it embarks on its second decade as the voice of trucking in Canada.
“CTA has completed the most effective and
productive period of its history since it became an Alliance of the provincial
associations in 1997,” says Muller. “We have been blessed by strong,
progressive leadership both at the carrier and the staff level; we will continue
to build on our strengths and ensure CTA has the resources it needs to do the
job in helping to shape our industry and the regulatory environment it operates
in.”
While conceding that there are different economic
circumstances confronting the industry across the country and between sectors of
the industry, Muller says that “CTA is the one forum that brings everyone
together and we all share a common vision to make our industry better.”
David Bradley, CEO of the Alliance calls Muller
“an ideal steward for CTA at this point in the Alliance and the
industry’s history.”
“Bruno is a dynamic and progressive leader. He
is well known for his trademark style in which he provides thoughtful strategic
direction while empowering those who work on his team with great responsibility.
This will dovetail extremely well in his role with CTA,” says
Bradley.
“I know I have the support of carriers from
across the country and I look forward to helping oversee the Alliance’s
strategy to ensure that CTA’s effectiveness continues to grow,” says
Muller. The new chairman is also deeply committed to addressing the driver
shortage by attracting a new generation of Canadians to the trucking
industry.
Muller resides in Sherwood Park, Alberta (just outside
of Edmonton) with his wife Carla and two teenage sons. They share a passion for
boating, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and
neighbors at their lake cottage. Family and community are top priorities
for Bruno and he is well known for his work with charitable
foundations.
