Tandet’s Dan Risebrough
Named Ontario Dispatcher of the Year for 2007
(Toronto: Nov. 16, 2007) – Shaw Tracking in
partnership with the Ontario Trucking Association today named Tandet Dedicated
Inc. dispatcher Dan Risebrough as Ontario’s 2007 OTA/Shaw Tracking
Dispatcher of the Year. The award was presented during a breakfast ceremony at
the Ontario Trucking Association’s 81st annual convention (Nov.
15-16) held at the Toronto Congress Centre.
The award, sponsored by Shaw Tracking, goes to a dispatcher who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to customer service, safety, driver well being, courtesy, team work, problem solving and community service/volunteer work. Mr. Risebrough has been with Tandet Dedicated for 18
years – 11 of them spent working as a dispatcher. He is responsible for
dispatching loads to over 100 drivers who transport freight to destinations
throughout North America.
Dan honed his exceptional driver relations skills
during the time he spent behind the wheel of a transport truck. Before Dan began
his dispatcher career he was a transport driver for Tandet. This experience
contributed to his outstanding ability to understand the challenges on the road
and balance those with the customers’ need for on-time delivery of
freight.
"Unlike any other program of its kind, the Dispatcher
of the Year Award is a strong testament to hard work and dedication from the
people who matter most – customers and fellow peers. The evaluation
process of this award is based on ongoing commitment to customer service,
safety, driver well being, courtesy, team work, problem solving, and community
service/volunteer work," said Mike Ham, Vice President Business Services, Shaw
Tracking.
“Dan was selected for this award not by the
management team, but by his peers.” says Scott Tilley, President, Tandet
Dedicated Inc. “It was Dan’s peers that solicited management’s
approval for the nomination. It was this group that requested letters from
customers, drivers and associates. Upon reading the letters of support for
Dan’s nomination that came in, they did not surprise me as to the nature
and respect for the individual. Dan is ‘one of a
kind’.”
In the nomination application, Dan’s co-workers
wrote; “Dan Risebrough possesses a magnitude of abilities. With
Dan’s thirty plus years experience in the trucking industry he is able to
provide accurate and almost immediate responses to any inquiry or challenge. He
has an uncanny ability to carry a map in his head and can identify an
unimaginable amount of locations without researching. He is dedicated to our
customers and has developed an extremely good rapport even with the tough to
handle.”
Here’s what some of letters supporting
Dan’s nomination had to say:
Dan, and his wife Joan, reside in Little Britain,
Ontario He grew up on a farm and practices old fashioned values of generosity
toward the elderly and the less fortunate.
The couple is a member of the Camara Club of Ontario
and participates in rallies and competitions which direct proceeds to the Spina
Bifida and Hydrocephalus organizations. The couple also sponsors a child in
Ghana through Christian Children’s Fund.
At this morning’s ceremony, Dan was presented
with a keepsake plaque and a cash award.
