Customized Carrier Policy Manuals Now Available

September 25, 2002

Today, the Ontario Trucking Association (OTA), in conjunction with Workplace Management Consultants Inc. (WMCI), has launched a new product line for carriers designed to streamline and ensure compliance with labour, safety and other legislation, as well as individual company rules.

WMCI has developed a series of Policy and Procedure company manuals which can be customized to reflect any carrier’s unique operating perspectives. Moreover, the principal of WMCI, Miriam Isenberg, a transportation and corporate lawyer, will review companies’ existing policies and make the necessary revisions and additions to ensure that corporate policies meet relevant labour laws. For their driving personnel, companies have a choice of policies for company drivers, owner-operators or a combination of both. The manuals cover:

  • Professional Driver safety procedures and information;
  • Information specifically tailored to owner-operator contractors;
  • Health and Safety Policies and Procedures relative to drivers;
  • Complete instructions on completing log book and other forms, as well as information on relevant statutes and company rules;
  • Freight handling information specific to the company’s operations;
  • Canada and U.S. customs procedures; and
  • Emergency procedures.

The manuals will be marketed through the Ontario Trucking Association and will be available for viewing at booth 918 at Truck World 2002 held at the National Trade Centre (CNE grounds) in Toronto from September 26 to 28.

WMCI is a transportation consulting firm in Toronto headed by Miriam Isenberg, Q.C. Ms. Isenberg has 30 years experience as a transportation and commercial lawyer and has extensive experience dealing with trucking clients of all sizes from both Canada and the United States.
