Identify Major Issues Canadian Carriers Face in Complying with US Federal Safety
Regulations
(April 28, 2008) – A research study is underway
designed to identify issues affecting the harmonization and reciprocity of U.S.
and Canadian motor carrier safety regulations. The work is being conducted by
the highly respected American Transportation Research Institute for the Federal
Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). While CTA has been working
cooperatively with the researchers for several months now, it is now the
carriers’ turn to voice concerns/comments.
CTA is asking Canadian carriers to participate by
completing a brief (web based) survey to identify the major issues faced by
Canadian carriers in complying with US federal safety regulations.
Carriers are also being asked to provide comments on a
key component of FMCSA’s approach to providing information to cross-border
carriers in both Canada and the US -- the design of a website intended to serve
as a one-stop resource on commercial vehicle regulation.
To participate:

regulatory issues can be accessed at
