OTA Sponsors Pollution
Probe’s National Conference on Air Issues and the Movement of Commercial
Goods and Freight
(February 21, 2008) -- On March 5 and 6 Pollution
Probe is hosting a conference designed to raise awareness of government programs
and initiatives that will help carriers and shippers use less fuel, save money
and reduce emissions contributing to climate change and air pollution. The
conference will also showcase best practices across different transportation

The two-day event takes place in Toronto at the
Renaissance Toronto Airport Hotel and Conference Centre. Pollution Probe is
hosting the event in association with OTA, federal and provincial departments,
and other key transportation stakeholders.
The cost to attend is $200 which includes breakfast,
lunch and health breaks, a participants’ kit at the event and a copy of
the proceedings after the event.
The conference will:
• Present the latest science on the health
impacts from air pollution and climate change;
• Highlight Canada’s air quality and
climate change achievements and commitments and the contribution from the goods
and freight sector;
• Benchmark the environmental and economic
performance of the marine, rail, air and trucking modes in Canada, and with
other countries;
• Outline the policy measures, programs and
initiatives provided by different levels of government and mode
associations;
• Showcase best practices that address economic
and environmental performance being adopted by industry
leaders;
• Highlight new and emerging technologies in the
goods and freight movement sector; and
• Discuss new initiatives in the goods and
freight movement sector that would help Canada reach or exceed its emissions
reduction targets for 2020 and 2050.
