OTA Road Knights Introduced
to Membership at Convention
(Toronto, Nov, 28, 2005) -- The most recent team of
professional truck drivers who make up the OTA Road Knights were officially
presented to the OTA membership on Friday (Nov. 18) at luncheon during the
annual OTA Convention.
The nine members speak to community groups about safe
road sharing techniques, the vital role the trucking industry and the many
exciting career opportunities available in today’s trucking
industry.
The current members, who will serve for the 2005-2006
term, were chosen in January of this year. The Road Knights step out of the
truck cab several days each month to talk to car driving school students,
business clubs, community organizations and visit schools and career
fairs.
To be selected, driver applicants face a rigorous
selection process. The team is selected by a panel made up of representatives
from: the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario Provincial Police, mainstream
media, trade press, the Ontario Transportation Health and Safety Association and
OTA Communications Department. For more information about the Road Knights
