New OTA Service Saves Members Time, Money and Hassles Associated with Driver Licence Status Checks

The OTA is excited to introduce the OTA Truck Driver Licence Status Check service for members.  For just pennies a day, or $5 a year per driver, the OTA’s Truck Driver Licence Status Check provides a fast, convenient and user-friendly way for you to ensure your drivers hold valid licences of the proper class and endorsement.  In addition, you will have the ability to order an MTO detailed (3-year) driver abstract through this service, with overnight electronic ability, for a $10.00 fee per driver - $2.00 less than the MTO’s $12 abstract fee.

Once your company logs onto OTA’s secure website and submits a list of drivers’ licence numbers, OTA will submit the data to MTO on a quarterly basis for a status check on every driver.  Discrepancies are immediately identified and you are instantly notified by email of which of your drivers have been flagged for a licence status discrepancy.  You can then investigate the discrepancy with the driver or order a detailed MTO 3-year driver abstract (with overnight electronic delivery) for the affected driver.

Not only does OTA’s Truck Driver Licence Status Check System save you money on MTO driver's license checks, it ensures you will avoid costs associated with drivers operating your vehicles with invalid licences.  If a driver is found to have an invalid license, your organization is exposed to fines, CVOR points and costly civil litigation in the case of an accident.  Further, the MTO may seize your vehicle for up to seven days, resulting in fines and lost profits.
