Commercial Vehicle Wheel Service Training

The Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) administers the training/certification required by the Apprenticeship and Certification Act. Regulations require all individuals who remove or replace wheels on heavy trucks and truck trailers, having a manufacturer’s gross weight rating of 9,000 kg or higher, and all motor coaches, to be certified. The program has been in place since 1996.

Major program revisions resulting from the joint efforts of the OTA and the Ontario Tire Dealers Association (OTDA) were implemented in 2009. Train-the-Trainer courses are arranged by the OTDA and schedule information is available at www.otda.com.

For missing or replacement certificates, contact the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities at 416 326-5636.

For additional information, contact OTA 416 249-7401.
