
Course Description
This course teaches the requirements for
handling, offering for transport and transporting dangerous goods in
trucking setting. Canadian regulations require all individuals involved
in these activities to be trained and certified. The course is geared
towards truckload and less-than-truckload operations. This course is
based on the Canadian Trucking Alliance handbook “Transporting
Dangerous Goods by Truck”.
Why this is important
Many materials and products contain chemicals or
other products that can be hazardous to human health. These products
must be handled correctly, proper signage and labels must be visible and
placards must be properly used whenever they are transported.
Who should take the
course
Any person involved in handling, offering for
transport and transporting dangerous goods needs to be trained and
certified. This includes drivers, supervisors, shippers, dispatchers,
dock workers and receivers.
