Hon. Asa Hutchinson,
Former Under Secretary of U.S. Homeland Security

Mr. Hutchinson draws on his experience as a litigator, former federal prosecutor and executive in Federal enforcement agencies to advise and support clients during complex criminal and civil litigation. He also uses his experience sitting on and advising corporate boards to handle corporate internal investigations. Mr. Hutchinson was a Senior Trial Counsel and a partner within Venable’s Litigation Division. In September 2008, Mr.Hutchinson started The Asa Hutchinson Law Group, PLC firm with his son in Rogers, AR.

Mr. Hutchinson joined Venable in 2005 after serving as Under Secretary of Homeland Security. During his tenure at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Mr. Hutchinson was responsible for managing and coordinating the overall security of U.S. borders and transportation systems, setting immigration enforcement policies and priorities, and developing and implementing visa security programs.

Update On The Apprenticeship Program for Drivers

Ontario’s apprenticeship program provides both financial (participating carriers can claim a tax credit which is for up to $5,000 per apprenticeship) and program development support for employers who are hiring and training new drivers. Leading the discussion will be Maryscott “Scotty” Greenwood, managing director of International Trade & Public Affairs, at the Washington, DC law firm, McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP. In addition to her other public policy portfolios, Scotty is the Executive Director of the Canadian-American Business Council. Before joining the firm, Scotty was appointed by President Clinton to serve as Chief of Staff of the United States Embassy in Canada.
